About Me

Andrew Bud Adams
(he/him)
Writer, writing instructor, and geek dad.

Writer

I received my BA in Literature and Writing from SUNY Potsdam and my MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from Goddard College. Most of my scholarly or journalistic work has analyzed fantasy films and literature. All my fiction fits inside the fantasy genre. Both are listed here. Fiction samples can be found here.

Writing Instructor

My grad school teaching practicum was an 8-week creative writing workshop held in a Borders bookstore. I have been an adjunct English instructor at UVU since fall 2010 and taught at BYU-Idaho from 2012 to 2022. My course topics include intro, intermediate, and advanced composition. These focus mainly on academic writing and research with some surveys of other genres, including technical and narrative writing. My favorite course was about Joseph Campbell's "Heroic Journey."

Geek Dad

I grew up in the 80s and 90s loving the superhero and fantasy adventure stories of that time. My favorite dinosaur is Parasaurolophus; board game genre is dungeon crawlers;
and it’s cruel of you to twist my arm, but I guess the best figures in my Funko Pop collection are Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn), Willow Ufgood (Willow), and Robin Hood (Disney fox version). I'm married to an elementary school teacher and together we have five children. We love to read, watch movies and TV shows, and play games.
